NEW BEGINNINGS VETERAN SUPPORT PROGRAM
Supporting displaced veterans to rebuild confidence, purpose and direction
The New Beginnings Programme was created by ORCC to support displaced veterans as they navigated the often difficult transition to civilian life.
Many participants had struggled to find meaning and purpose after leaving the military—some living with PTSD and other mental health challenges linked to their service. Several were also battling addiction or substance misuse, feeling disconnected from civilian life and uncertain about their future.
The programme provided bespoke one-to-one coaching and mentoring to help each individual regain confidence, rebuild structure and rediscover their sense of purpose. Through a combination of practical guidance and emotional support, participants identified their strengths, set achievable goals and took tangible steps toward stability and employment.
Delivered in partnership with ESF Community Grants, the fully funded initiative supported 36 unemployed veterans across the Teesside and Tees Valley region through:
Career transition and life planning
Confidence and resilience coaching
Wellbeing and mental health support
CV creation and interview preparation
Access to retraining and qualifications
By the end of the programme, almost two-thirds of participants had moved into work, retraining or further education—a testament to their resilience and the power of targeted, compassionate support.
Although the programme has now concluded, ORCC remains deeply committed to supporting veterans, continuing to explore new partnerships and initiatives that help former service personnel thrive in civilian life.
